Are you trading illegally ? 16 Feb 2007 Under Victorian law, it is an offence for any person (including a company) to trade in taxi-cab licences unless that person has been approved to do so by the BSX Taxi Market (or by any other exchange or system which may in the future be approved by the Victorian government to conduct a market for the trading of taxi-cab licences). For these purposes, “trade” refers to negotiating on behalf of one or other of the parties for the transfer of a taxi-cab licence or for the assignment of the right to operate a vehicle under a taxi-cab licence; or advertising, or holding out to another person, as being able or willing to so negotiate. Before you engage any person to assist you to transfer or assign a taxi-cab licence from yourself to another person or from another person to yourself, you should make sure that the person is an approved BSX Taxi Broker. You can do this by: • checking that the person is listed on the BSX Taxi Market website as an approved broker (http://www.bsxtaximarket.com.au/brokers.aspx); • asking BSX Taxi Market by telephone on 9664 0000, by letter to Level 8, 410 Collins Street Melbourne 3000 or by email to taximarket@bsx.com.au; or • sighting a current certificate issued by BSX Taxi Market certifying that the person is an approved BSX Taxi Broker. If you have any concerns that the person who is helping you or offering to help you with the transfer or assignment of a taxi-cab licence is not an approved BSX Taxi Broker please contact BSX Taxi Market without delay. |
